Isle of Wight ferry firm Red Funnel cancellations

Isle of Wight ferry firm Red Funnel has cancelled two of its sailings this morning – over another technical issue.

The cross-Solent operator’s vehicle ferry is affected.

The 8am from Southampton, and the 9.30am from East Cowes have both been cancelled.

A ferry passenger told the County Press that Red Eagle, which has recently undergone a major engine refit, appeared to be limping back to Southampton and was making “clunking noises”.

Red Funnel has been approached for a statement and a question mark hangs over whether more cancellations are on the horizon. 

UPDATE: 

Another Red Funnel ferry sailing – the 11am from Southampton – has been cancelled.

The 12.30pm sailing from East Cowes has also been cancelled. 

UPDATE: 

The 2pm and 5pm sailings from Southampton have since been cancelled, as have the 3.30pm and 6.30pm sailings from East Cowes.

Red Funnel has announced further cancellations for tonight. 

The 8.15pm sailing from Southampton and the 9.45pm sailing from East Cowes have both been cut.
